Held at the Cleghorn Country Club on May 18, 2006

Nearly fifty metal finishing professionals from around the southeast competed in this years Carolina Classic Golf Tournament, held at the beautiful Cleghorn Golf course in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. The event was presented by the Metrolina and Palmetto branches of the AESF and ended up being the best fundraiser of the branches in the last 15 years.  Thanks to the notable sponsors such as the Associated Rack Company (ARC), Luster-On Products, Crossair LLC, KCH Services, Palm International, American Plating Power (APP), Countrywide home Loans, Finishing Market, and Southern Metal Finishing. The tournament took place on Thursday, May 18th, with registration opening at 12:30 pm. Because of the great turnout we were able to arrange a Shotgun start.  Gifts bags containing an array of snacks, golf balls and tees was provided to all registrants by Kevin Helton of Crossair, LLC. 

Though the day was windy, it failed to curb the enthusiasm of the players, and the sociable atmosphere and possibly the (complementary beer cart) kept everyone occupied and entertained until the teams fished up around 5:00pm. After all teams were off of the course, a Barbeque dinner was catered by a local smokehouse and was served on a large, outdoor pavilion overlooking the course.  During the banquet, sponsors and participants were thanked for their contributions, and awards were handed out.

The First Place Team was awarded the Luster-On Team comprised of Mark Weddington and Ryan Dorsey of D-Coat, Kevin Helton of Crossair, and Steve Gilbert of Luster-on.   Second Place was taken by the Metal Chem team which included Barry Kimbrell of Bommer Industries, Alan wolf of Metal Chem, Shane Moore of Scovill, and Gordon Djani of Water Specialists.   Curiously enough the members of Precision Coatings team, who won the last place prizes were also the lucky winners of the Mother Ball Tournament.
