Topic: Multiple Colors on a Single Part

Our company has a set of very high end aluminium gates that the customer wants to powder paint 2 colors.  The frame is to be green and the "pickets" are to be black.  We've done some limited 2 color parts before but nothing on this scale.  I was wondering what approach anyone out there has taken in doing multi colors.  We generally paint the entire object a base color first bake for 5-10 minutes (just enought to start the cure process) remove from the oven tape/mask apply the second color and then do a final bake for full time.  Anyone have suggestions or experience on larger parts?

I don't claim to be the expert here, but from what I have heard you need to cure more than 5-10 min before removing for taping or you will damage the 1st coat with the tape's adhesive.

Some say full cure the first coat, but you may want to find a happy-medium between flow-out and full cure to prevent overbake with the second cure cycle.
