Topic: Cleaning Copper Bus Bar

I need help! I have been having problems cleaning copper bus for a while now. I"ve tried numerous kinds of cleaners, soak cleans without sucess and still have went back to manually having to clean. There has to be a more cost effective process to cleaning this 12 foot copper bus bar. There is a unknown type of oil from the factory on the copper along with water spots. Can someone give me some suggestions or advice on a way to clean the copper bar in order to have a platable surface.
