Topic: three stage accelertor used in five stage proccess

Our vendor recommend that we should use an accelerator used in a cleaner/coater solution (used in three stages process) at very low concentrations but we have a six stage process where the cleaning solution (two) are separated by a rinse stage from phosphate stage. We have had significantly changes in coating color and some brown streaks. Is it really necessary?

So, if I'm reading this right, your initial problem is color change and brown streaks?  It sounds to me like your phosphate is getting contaminated and/or is out of balance. 


Can you provide us with more details, like cleaning time, temperature, concentration, dump schedule, age of baths, substrate, etc?

         ok.

         We didn´t add this chemical anymore for 3 days and we still had (clearer) streaks. I think DustinGebhardt was right and we dumpped both cleaning solutions (we dump them every three months). Today we started well.

         Also, we placed a filter to the phosphate bath. Now, should I add the acelerator?  will there be any problem with filter size (10 microns).

You should be able to use the accelerator, but I would recommend that you try your process out for a few days without any more changes.  If everything is running well, you can try the accelerator.


10 microns should be a good filter size to remove most particles and debris.
