Topic: treatment of galvanised and steel in fluoride-containing baths

It is told to me that you can't treat galvanised and steel substrates in the same bath when fluorides are involved. Iron fluoride complexes would be formed and Zn is activated by fluorides, yet does Zn activation threatens the steel or does the iron fluoride complexes threaten the Zn, or both?

Why do you need the fluoride are you doing aluminum also.

I use fluoridated acids all the time for my steel parts.  However, I've never heard about a problem with using galvanized and steel parts in the same bath.  I would suggest that you give the fluoride a try and see what you get.
