Topic: is it possible, phopahte pretreatment before electroplating

Can anyone please guide me if it is possible to do zinc phosphating prior to brass electroplaing and nickel electroplating on MS sheets as pretreatment process.

Is it possible to do zinc phosphating as surface cleaning before elctroplating against oil/grease, so that surface will not peel off after plating? Thank you very much for helping me clear this up.

Re: is it possible, phopahte pretreatment before electroplating

Hello kapoor1_1;  Zinc Phosphate is typically either used as a prefered pre-treatement for adheasion of paints such as Powder Coatings, and others - or as lubrication in something like a cold forming operation.  Can't seem to figure out where that one came from...??

Clean is as clean is... just decide what clean is to your speicific process -and maybe start with a soak clean suitible for your substrate, rinse, activivate, and plate and experiement from there.  Actually maybe you should consider a course in parts cleaning or electroplating.  I happen to know where a couple of good courses on both topics are being held soon.....

Good Luck!
