Topic: Need Help with Anodized Aluminum

I think I chemically etched the pontoons on my boat while attempting to clean them with sodium hydroxide( I Didnt know any better then)  Anyway the question is does anyone have any sugestions on improving the now "galvanized" appearance that I now have on the pontoons to make them shine again?

I'd say polish them by hand or use scotchbrite.
