Re: Heat Treatment
Hi all,
I have some parts of a new customer that requires heat treatment which I don't have.
Do you know someone who can do it?
Regards,
Alfonso M

Regards, Alfonso M Re: Heat TreatmentAlphonso, Please tell everyone what geographic location you are in so they can help with a recommendation for a quality heat treat facility. Re: Heat TreatmentLook Up, Bodycote Thermal Processing, they are in most major cites. Re: Heat TreatmentAlphonso That does not say where your parts are or what the substrate or temper you need is. There are many people that can help you but the details are very important. You really need to look locally if this is a small order, a long travel time is a waste of time and money in most cases. Jim Re: Heat TreatmentJust a little forum etiquette here: The original post was from September of '06. When you post on a topic that has been dead for this long it is called "necro-ing" and generally frowned upon. See here (definition #1). If you want to make a post about an old topic, stop yourself and go ahead and start a new thread. Odds are the original poster no longer has any interest in the post and you are just posting a reply for your own benefit. Last edited by DustinGebhardt (10/26/2009 - 07:36 PM)
-Dustin Gebhardt,
CEF Plating Engineer Danaher Tool Group Gastonia, NC Re: Heat TreatmentThanks Dustin, I checked new posts but did not check the dates of the originals. My bad sorry. Jim Re: Heat TreatmentBonjour Dustin, I have to admit, I was not aware of the etiquette that you are referring to, and I can certainly appreciate your comments, because as you know I am your biggest fan. But let me just say this.... I created this specifically forum for the transfer of information, the dissemination of knowledge to do with the Surface Finishing Industry. So I have to ask.... what harm is it if an old post is brought back to life as this one was?? (as long as it is relevant to our industry) I was just with several people from Bodycote in France and Germany when this post was made, and I have to say I was very proud to see it alive again as I was meeting with them to explain the importance of the above and the forums in general. Please respond to this position when you have time. As always - with respect, and gratitude for your participation. Sincerely, Paul E. FisherRe: Heat Treatment"Necro-ing" Geeeee, I think that adding to any new or older post to embellish the answer is a good thing. If someone reads a post answering an old question and comes away with some new or confirmed suspicions, more power to them. This does not have to be the person asking the original question. So that we all know, poster's ought to supply enough information. Post to this Finishing group like they are not clewed in. 'Cause we aren't. You can always Edit your post and hit Submit to add details so readers don't have to post to ask for clarity when willingly answering. Who What Where When Why And then add pertinent information...say pretreatment. S.W.A.T.C.H.----> soil, water, action, time, chemical, and heat. skip. Last edited by skip (12/25/2009 - 07:33 PM)

Re: Heat TreatmentHello Skip, I sort of felt like I was reading a new form of Skeltonese ..... (our regular poster Paul Skelton who knows exactly what I'm talking about). But I certainly agree on both of your points. 1.) If you have something to say or a question about about any of the thousands of older postings- please feel free to add on to the thread. and 2.) always try to include all of the relevant info so the other members have a chance of sharing good and relevant info with you - (obvious but often overlooked). The purpose of this forum is to share information and knowledge about the Surface Finishing Industry in an effort to help perpetuate its future..... and I'd like to thank you for being a part of that effort. Oh yea - and about the edit thing..... there are some bugs with our sites editor program so if you have a problem with editing your post let me know and either myself or one of the other admins will help you clear it up.
