Topic: Copper thickness
Why does de the strike bath, rochelle and acid copper have different layer thickness?
Strike up to 2.5 microns
Rochelle up to 8 microns
Acid or High efficiency: any
It is because beyond this thickness the coating is spongy?

Re: Copper thickness
I believe it has to do with bath efficiency. As the bath efficiency goes higher, the rate of deposition goes up as well. I suppose you could plate any thickness in a strike bath, but it may take you a significant amount of time. If I had to guess, I would say that the thickness rating given on the chart are just suggestions.
