Re: Titanium Anodizing

1) Does anyone know of a finisher in Asia that does Type II Anodizing of titanium, preferably in Japan

2) When I look at info on type III and type II anodizing of titanium, it appears to be exactly the same.  Is there a true difference?

3) Someone asked me about type 1 anodizing of titanium (not aluminum).  I am not familiar with this and not even sure it exists for titanium.  I have only seen type 2 (and what they call type III) for the medical industry for titanium.

Re: Titanium Anodizing

I may have solved part of my question by doing research.  Tiodize has what they call
Type I (.0001-.0003 penetration of anodic coating) in caustic electrolyte
Type II (same as I but removing soft build up layer using u/s or abrasion)
Type III (colored and in an acid bath).  I would assume phosphoric or sulfuric.
Type IV Same as type II with PTFE (teflon) impregnated in it.

The type three is what I assume would be similar to a standard spec of Titanium Anodize type II per ASM2488 but I do not have a copy of that spec.  Can someone verify if I am understanding the confusion properly here?

Thanks

Steve
