OK. Good info but why then have the coatings companies used it as an excuse to raise prices for the last 2 years?

[ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 5 replies ]LOL - It is below $60 a barrel today. Topic: Ok silly question... [ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 5 replies ]For the past two years everytime crude/gas prices have gone up I have received a letter from the powder companies informing me of a price increase to counteract raw material and shipping cost. Now that crude/gas prices have taken a beating why are the powder and shipping cost not falling?? ;) Re: Recurring Powder Defect [ Started by jfieker in Powder Coating : 12 replies ]Not sure if this will help but I have seen similar defects in my shop. Some of my fabricators use anti-splatter oil when welding and any of this redisue left over causes wrinkle type defects. There is one more things that caused/causes these type of imperfections but it is mostly during the hot months. I have seen sweat from employees drop onto parts before spraying and it creates the same pattern when the coating is cured. I did not see wether you are pre-heating the part before spraying after it is hung on the rack. Maybe the larger panels cause the employees to come into closer contact with them when they are hanging ....just a thought but it does look exactly like your picture when it happens here. Re: Exhuast powder coating?? [ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 15 replies ]OK now I see the problem. The Heliocoat product is only good to 900 degrees. While this will work for mufflers and the pipes a good distance away from the head it will not work for the headers themselves. I have measured the external temp on my headers at 500 degrees at idle! That means at WOT the temps reach the neighborhood of 1200-1500 degrees and in some turbos 1800+ under boost. The pipes will actually glow red hot in some applications.
Re: Exhuast powder coating?? [ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 15 replies ]Is caswell the makers of it??? Who do you buy it from?
Re: Exhuast powder coating?? [ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 15 replies ]I am pretty sure I know the answer to this question but I have had two customers lately swear it is out there.
Re: Powder Coating Tarrif #?? [ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 1 replies ]I have a customer asking to fill out paperwork for their gov contract work. In it they ask for a tarrif code for powder coating. I ahve search the gov website (Tariff Information Center) but can not find anything.

Re: Powder booth question [ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 7 replies ]:) I have been nice but that is very good advice for anyone reading this. I sort of figured that he has the final word no matter what but I thought I might get lucky this time and not have to install it.
Re: Powder booth question [ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 7 replies ]The current booth I have I had to put one on because at the time it was easier to install rather than argue with them. That was 6yrs ago. Since then I have talked with other coaters in the area and the fire marshall did not require them to install one since it was powder only. I was curious where you would find the regulations written down so maybe when I install the second booth I do not have to go through the expense again. Re: Powder booth question [ Started by DCInc in Powder Coating : 7 replies ]Does anyone know where I can find the regulations on fire suppression systems on powder spray booths? I have heard that they are not even required. The firs marshall want to classify it like a liquid spray booth.
