Sorry for the confusion. I am trying to buff and polish steel for chrome plating. Was told that the abrasive would leave small deposits of aluminum in the steel and the piece being chromed would have corrosion problems later. Thanks for any info.

Does aluminum oxide cause any corrosion problems when base metal is plated over??? I was told that it will. Any help with this subject will be appreciated.

Aluminmum oxide verses emery abrasive: I was just wondering which type of abrasive is best for buffing and polishing metal for chrome plating I was told that aluminum oxide would cause corrosion problems.
