Hello. New to this forum. I am not a metallurgist, and that is why I need help. I build banjo ukuleles, and would like to start getting some metal components plated in nickel. The components would be 360 brass, 1/8' thick x 5/8" wide, rolled into an 8" diameter hoop. The hoops will be under a fair amount of tension, as they serve to pull the sythetic skin head of the instrument to tension.
My question involves a method of closing the hoops that will meet three criteria: A) Strong bond. B) Hopefully can be done with a propane torch. C) (and this is where I really need the help) Can be nickel plated.
I see so many products out there (silver solder "easy" "medium" "hard", brazing rod of various compositions, flux coated, flux core, etc) that the choice is overwhelming.
