Mo Power to you Bro. labrat,

are you near Stone Mountains or some other? I like how you call it as you see it :D

What type of operation do you run? :) You could drop me a PM.

And last but not least...thanks for spending some quality time with a NEWBIE like me...;)

Many thanks Labrat,

but now this leads to more questions; at the site www.dalmarplating.com they feature brushing kits, and as I noted before, the Prez suggested me using one of the "Brush" kits to work on my steel drum project and of course I had intended to use the kit to start a small chrome etc biz.

Many years ago I had wanted to go into "DIPPING" but then I saw how much was involved. Then I found out about "BRUSHING" and thought of it as a way out, apparently not :o .

Hmmm...so if Dipping is for serious chroming, where does Brushing fit in or for which applications would it be best used

Thanks to all for your insight! :)

Hi Folks,

As a newbie, I've gotten some good thought provoking answers to my re-chroming of my steel drums, but I have one more question;

generally speaking "for good chroming; To Dip or To Brush...which is better?" :o

Hi SMF,

And thanks for your reply, I'm located in Nassau Bahamas just 183 or so miles from Miami. So, I guess and investment in a Brush-Plating kit are only for the Hobbist eh?

Yes, I would like a very durable finish and come think of it the undersides of those drums seems to be un-finished; no undercoat paint or nothing.

Well, then see if you could hook me up with someone. Aw shucks, I really thought that Dalmarplating would be my answer :( :o

Hi There...I'm back!

I have a long story to tell but I'll keep it short but in the event you wish to read the "LONG" version, just drop me a line!

Some years ago I got some double Tennor Steel Drums made. I had them chromed but a short time later I noticed that the playing surface started to lose some chrome so I took them back to the drum Crafter seeking to have them re-chromed but he offered make me a new set, which he had gotten chromed as well.

Sadly, I never got to play this new set due to a busy schedule and other health issues and stored them in their cases in an outside shed for which they are now encrusted in vermin urine etc.

I would like to know how difficult would it be to re-chrome these and if this is a project a "Green Horn" like me could tackle [NO Experience WHATSOEVER], where would I start and what equipment would I need?

In my search I found this interesting company www.dalmarplating.com and here is what the Pr …
