Topic: Cleaning grapite electrodes for EDM machines

We are currently in the process of installing an automated graphite cleaning unit in our factory. I am not sure what type of fluid to use in the cleaning unit and was wondering if anyone had any advice or information regarding this topic.

At the moment we are using a soluble oil lubracant to manufacture the graphite electrodes and are interested in cleaning these units before storing them for future use. The electrodes would also be cleaned after use in the edm machines.

Thank you for your advice on this topic!

Re: Cleaning grapite electrodes for EDM machines

asalamon,

Soluble oils are usually not that tough to clean so a good multi-metal alkaline cleaner should do the trick. If the electrodes are going to be stored for a long period of time (months) it is important to use a cleaner that has a rust inhibitor in it for rust protection.

Please visit our website for more information on these type of cleaners www.enviroservechemicals.com.

Hope this helps
