Topic: Black Anodizing 2024 & 2011 Aluminum
I alway have had a hard time getting a really nice black anodized part with 2000 aluminum. The parts turn out smutty. What is this material and dose it indicate bad Anonic Film.

2000 series aluminum has a high copper content. It may be interfering with the dye. The 2000 series is also difficult to anodize uniformily (again, due to the copper). What kind of of cleaner, etch, and desmut are you using?
