Are you speaking of how to calculate transfer efficiency? As is your true powder usage? There are a few things to focus on but one that has been used often is the process of using weight.

When we really want to get exact information on how much powder is being consumed per part, you can take a sampling of parts and weigh them prior to powder coating. You then must have an exact weight and volume of powder that is being used for the job.

1. Prior to powder coating. Weigh your part(s). Write this number down.
2. Weigh your box of powder or the powder you are placing in hopper(s). Write number down.
3. After your parts are powder coated and cured, weigh the remaining powder. Also weigh your parts. This will show you the exact amount of powder consumed by your line to coat the parts. It will show you by weight how much of the powder actually ends up on your part. If you used 100 lbs of powder and your post curing weight of your part is an additional 90 lbs, you have used 90% of the product on your parts and your line is consuming 10% of the powder.

Larger samplings over a longer period of time will give you better results and will be more accurate. There are other ways on larger scales just by taking detailed line notes. Remember, you have to take in consideration rework parts.

Let me know if this helps ok.
