Topic: Spots over oxidizing/antiquing on brass

Can someone please guide me to solve my problem. Every time when I antiquing/oxidize the elctroplated brass on CRC sheet metal items in warm water, I got water spots after blacking the items.

When I make brushed for linning after it, these spots are more visible on brass layer.

--Is there any other chemical additive to remove these spot.

--Is there any other oxidizing chemical which helps me to blacking the brass with less amount of consuming the brass layer.

--What is the purpose of Ferric nitrate or ferric chloride. Is it useful for antiquing proces with no spots on item

Re: Spots over oxidizing/antiquing on brass

To help eliminate the water spots you need to be using hot de-ionozed rinse water.

Sorry I can't help you with the antiquing but I don't have any experience in it.
