Topic: Iron fines and microspalling
I have heard that iron fines and microspalling are two potential sources of pitting in chrome plating, but I am having trouble finding information on either.(sources, effects, etc.) Can anyone help me out with this?

Are you talking about hard chrome plating or decorative chrome plating? I've never come across pitting in decorative chrome plating. But I HAVE seen it in the underlying nickel plating.
