Re: Powder coat anything anywhere
Wood, concrete, mild steel, stainless steel, galvanized, aluminum, even cardboard and ceramic tile. And you can do it on-site or in your shop.
There is a whole new way to powder coat things without the need for an oven.

Re: Powder coat anything anywhere
I am not impressed with anyone who wants to do a mobile powder coating system and skirt the issue of a huge overhead that the rest of us have to contend with- rent, permits and compliance issues seem to not catch up with these guys, and what ends up happening is product is coated too cheaply to compete. In the end, you get a bunch of unhappy disgruntled clients who have a bad taste in their mouth about powder coating. We spend a lot of our time teaching clients that not all powder coaters are bad, inexperienced, or plain dont care about their clients parts.

Re: Powder coat anything anywhere
I would be very curious to know what the life expectency of this type of system would be? Without phosphate, chromate or other types of pretreatment systems (or basic cleaning systems for that matter) what is the life expectency from a corrosion perspective.
I noticed in the photo above with the coater spraying on the asphault, there is alot of spray that is caught in the air. What is happening with these powder particles? We are so tightly watched with the EPA eye that one would think that this could cause issues - serious ones?
How will this type of application be regulated?
I am not even a novice with this....but from what I have heard, it can take someone 2 or so hrs to coat a 3x8 flat surface properly with this type of coating. Is that true?

Re: Powder coat anything anywhere
There are a lot of questions to be answered before this system can be regarded as a credible alternative to a well applied powdercoat system.
It has taken a very long time to overcome the damage done by ill informed applicators from the early days.
That said, let us be receptive to new technologies when they are supported by adequate testing.
