Imperial Zinc burned down last night - A chemist was the only person in the building when the fire started and he called 911, nobody was hurt. Here is what the local news channel reported ......
WMAQ-TV CHICAGO - A three-alarm fire that ravaged a Far South Side zinc factory reignited Monday morning after it was thought that the fire was out. No injuries were reported and crews remained at the scene at 6:10 a.m. At 2:36 a.m., firefighters battled a blaze at Imperial Zinc Corp., 1031 E. 103rd St., according to Fire Media Affairs Directory Larry Langford, who said at 4:20 a.m. that the cause of the fire remained unknown

Does anyone know if combustible zinc dusts were a contributing factor to the fire?

I doubt if zinc dust was a contributor to fire as I don't believe they made this product. It's normal for them to use fluxing material in their processing of scrap zinc which is very flamable. Not sure of local EPA restrictions but some times companies would use this product at night as it is more difficult to detect in darkness.
