Topic: Powder Equipment Question
Does anyone have any thoughts on the Nordson Prodigy guns. I've recently done a demo with them at my shop...My first thoughts was I liked them, although very expensive. Whats the reliability, wear part cost, maintenace, etc. Also, are the claims that Nordson is making about the cost savings true?? Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone!

Re: Powder Equipment Question
You are correct, good equipment, but at a price!
I recently saw a coater in GA with these guns online. I was impressed by their ability to overcome serious faraday cage issues even with a metallic. I have to say that I was a bit shocked with the price I heard. Probably a quote similar to what you received.
Nordson and Gema both have made some incredible advances in technology.

Re: Powder Equipment Question
We recently purchased the newly released Nordson Encore model to replace our Surecoat. We "test drove" both the Encore and Prodigy side-by-side for a couple of days. The Encore had much better transfer efficiency, quicker coverage and ease of use. And best of all, it was much less expensive. Our painters love it!

Re: Powder Equipment Question
Dear LFIAdamD,
It depends on the product you are trying to coat. The Prodigy is a high density feed system that has quick color change technology. It will perform better on hard to coat parts with deep recesses. It also has better cloud control than the new total air technologies like the Encore gun. If you are into a more traditional General Industrial coating process the Encore would be a better selection. It just depends on your needs. The Prodigy is easier on the powder and uses less compressed air. Hope that helps, if you want more info let me know.
