I have a company that has 85 employees and 25 different processes. I am looking for a replacement to the software we are currently using that is specificaly made for the metal finishing industry and is robust enough to use as the accounting software as well. What do most plating/coating shops use for software? Any suggestions?
What do you need from your software? Scheduling? Flow tracking? Real-time Inventory? Plating chemical tracking and calculations? SPC charts? Accounting (AR/AP)?
I'm not sure that I know of one piece of software that does it all. Many plating shops use TrueChem (including myself) for process monitoring and SPC. I've seen QuickBooks used for some smaller businesses for the accounting stuff.

I doubt there is one solution to cover all areas of your industry, the companies that I know of use separate systems for each.
There is no doubt that an all in one system would be preferable, if anyone out there is looking to fund development for a new piece of software that does it all please let me know.
I discussed this posting with a friend who runs a successful shop in the Carolinas, and here is what he said on the subject....
The software we use in the laboratory is called "Labwizard" and is a very flexible tool - all kinds of statistical data and charts can be generated. It is a stand alone system and does not integrate with our accounting software. I am of the opinion that there would be no benefit if it did integrate. The accounting software we use if named Pro Series Version 7.3 by ACCPAC International Inc. This is a very flexible system also but requires professional assistance to modify.
I also know that Lab Man owned by the Kushner Plating School is a very common software that I've seen many of our clients use. And let's not forget about Corner Stone who once was an advertisers for this publication.
And lastly - there is a similar thread on the old Finishing.com site on this very same topic.
Hello, I was hoping to jumpstart this thread again. We are currently looking into E2 Shop Tech as a new software to better help us manage our company. Looks very promising. Has anyone out there had any experience with it? Or would you recommend something different? Currently using Business Works and it can't keep up with our demands.
